Sarah Bostwick created a new site specific installation in Brussels, Belgium as part of a group exhibition of interventions titled Absens at Meessen-De Clercq, opening April 2008. She also participated in the Palo Alto Art Center’s, A Model Building, this past fall. Her solo show at Gregory Lind is scheduled for Fall of 2008.
Chris Duncan and Jovi Schnell are part of a group show, Apocabliss, curated by Maya Hayuk at Alice Gallery in Brussels. Chris Duncan was also included in Hope & Despair, a recent group show curated by Bob Matthews at Cell Project in London. The most recent issue of Hot & Cold, Chris Duncan’s zine project with Griffin McPartland will be launched at the Luggage Store Gallery, San Francisco, May 9, 2008.
Franklin Evans was selected for the Marie Walshe Sharpe Space Program (a one year residency in Dumbo, starting in September). Selection panel included Chuck Close, Robert Storr and Sarah Sze.
Jim Gaylord just exhibited new works on paper in "Color Less Delicious" at Nu'uanu Gallery in Honolulu. His work was recently acquired by The West Collection and The Progressive Art Collection. A new print published by Element Editions is available at Gregory Lind Gallery. Jim Gaylord is a 2008 Fellow in Painting from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Seth Koen is participating in the traveling group show, "Nancy Boy", curated by Nancy Mizuno Elliott. The show originated at the Richmond Art Center, Richmond, CA and has now traveled to the University Art Gallery of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. The show includes Bay-Area artists Bren Ahern, Brian Ganglehoff, David Hevel, Francis McIlveen, Andrew J. Phares, Shawn Smith, and Curtis Jones.
Jake Longstreth is working on a photography monograph entitled, Our Brands/Our Lands. His second solo exhibition of paintings is scheduled for early 2009.
Bob Matthews recently curated the international group exhibition Hope & Despair at Cell Project Space in London where it included the work of Mark Titchner, Phillip Allen, Alexandra Bircken, Kaye Donachie, Chris Duncan amongst others. Recent exhibitions include Layer Cake, Fabio Tiboni Arte Contemporanea, Bologna, Italy; Superscope Lounge/Monika Bobinska, London. Future exhibitions include V22 Ashwin Street, London and at Keith Talent Gallery, London where he is working towards a solo exhibition for 2008.
Christian Maychack was awarded a residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture this summer.
Mark Mulroney received a commission to do a mural at the New Children's Museum in Downtown San Diego. It will be the largest-scale mural he has ever done. The Museum will open in May 2008.
Mel Prest participated in Stop & Go, Electric Works, San Francisco - artist made stop motion films curated by Sarah Klein (screening is April 5, 8pm); Artworks Downtown, San Rafael; Out of the Fog, an exhibition of artists from Headlands for the Arts, (March-May 2008), Curators: Dianne Romaine and Holly Blake; Touch, Busdori, Tokyo (April-May 08); Calculated Color, Higgins Art Gallery, Cape Cod, MA, curated by Jane Lincoln (Sept-Oct 08). Recent group shows include, TRANS Abstraction, Weltraum, Munich (Nov-Dec 07); Close Calls, Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito (Jan-Feb); The Space Between, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, (Feb 1- Apr 12); TRANS, Pharmaka, Los Angeles. Recent publications: New American Paintings: Pacific Coast Edition. A solo show is scheduled at Gregory Lind for 2009.
Tucker Schwarz is participating in SKIN at the DCR in The Hague. The DCR is a new cultural space started in 2005. She was included in Running Around The Pool, Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University, curated by Terri Lindbloom, Oct 12- Nov 16, 2007
Duane Slick's four-panel painting "North American Palindrome," has been purchased by the US State Dept. for its new Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Barbara Takenaga had a solo shows at Gregory Lind in March 2008, and recently at the Brattleboro Musuem in Vermont. Selected recent group shows include It's Gouache and Gouache Only, curated by Geoffrey Young at Andrea Meislin in NYC; Cut, Copy, Fold, Cover at Artists Image Resource in Pittsburgh; and The Workspace Program at Dieu Donne in NYC. She is included in a group show, Midnight Full of Stars, curated by Sara Henry at the Visual Art Center of New Jersey through June 6, 2008. In 2007, Takenaga was included in 100 New York Painters by Cynthia Dantzic, published by Schiffer Books and An Artist's Handbook by Margaret Krug, published by Abrams. She was also included in an article on "The New Abstraction" by Barbara MacAdam in Art News, April 2007. Takenaga will also be exhibited in The 183rd Annual: An Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary American Art May 29 - September 7, 2008 at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts in New York. Her painting has received the Eric Isenburger Annual Award.
Dannielle Tegeder is included in a group exhibition entitled, Future Tense: Reshaping the Landscape, curated by Dede Young at the Neuberger Museum of Art in Westchester County, NY from May 11-July 20, 2008, and in Nature Interrupted, curated by Elga Wimmer on view at the Chelsea Art Museum, NYC. She is also on view at The 183rd Annual: An Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary American Art May 29 - September 7, 2008 at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts in New York.
Sarah Walker is currently participating in Future Tense: Reshaping the Landscape, Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY presents work by sixty artists who are taking a critical look at the state of the environment. It runs from May 11- July 20, 2008. She will have her third solo exhibition at Gregory Lind in September 2008 titled: Beacons, Floaters and Lost Objects. This summer Sarah was chosen to be a Visiting Artist-in-Residence at the Vermont Studio Center and has been awarded a fellowship through the Banff Centre to pursue a residency in the Leihgton Studio Program for Summer 2009. Recent museum acquisitions include the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Will Yackulic will be included in the Weatherspoon Art Museum's 40th Anniversary 2008 Art on Paper Exhibition, October 19, 2008 – January 25, 2009. Will has received numerous reviews in recent publications for his recent San Francisco show (see Reviews & Press section).
Frank Yamrus Bared and Bended artist book is now part of the permanent collection at the Provincetown Art Museum. An image, Brian-Dune from the Primitive Behavior Series was recently published in Hommes pour Hommes anthology of male imagery. Published by Togouna in France. (Autumn 07). The Rapture Series continues to exhibit as part of the Kinsey's Institute Expressive Body - Contemporary Art Photography, most recently at the Indiana University's Herron Gallery.
