The Traveler is an invalid, wrote the German Romantic Jean-Paul. Carrying the consolation of artists and of hope in thinking. Before transcription lay distances and boundaries. Soon the paper is lost. And so too, the writer. Winds blow sentences toward being found again.

Brett Goodroad (b. 1979) grew up in Montana and lives and works in San Francisco, CA. He received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Previously exhibitions include, The Luggage Store Gallery, San Francisco (2013); the Drawing Center, New York (2014); 3320 18th Street (2017), San Francisco; Brighton Festival, UK (2018); and Way Bay 1 and 2, Berkeley Art Museum (2018). Goodroad has been the recipient of the Millay Colony for the Arts, NY (2009), Vermont Studio Center awards (2006), and the Tournesol Award, Headlands Center for the Arts (2012). This is the artist’s second solo show with the gallery.
