Sarah Bostwick - Grand Apartment

Sarah Bostwick

Grand Apartment - Inlaid Drawings

September 7 - October 14, 2006

In her meticulously crafted hand-carved drawings, artist Sarah Bostwick celebrates the quiet poetry of a nearly invisible architecture hiding beneath the surface of the visible environment. By inlaying drawings carved in dark hardwood, antique ivory, black acrylic and slate into minimalist surfaces varying from whole museum walls to blocks of Hydrocal resembling sheets of paper, Bostwick references existing structures while creating her own—in this manner enabling spectators to meditate on strangely beautiful landscapes of in-between spaces and forgotten zones.

Sarah Bostwick's 2006 exhibitions include: Homecoming, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut; The Art of Design: The Architecture and Design Collection, SFMOMA, San Francisco, California; The White Album, Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, California. This will be Sarah Bostwick's second solo exhibition at Gregory Lind Gallery. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
