Randy Dixon
San Francisco architect Randy Dixon's idiosyncratic series archiSculpture explores the dream house as a signifier of domestic fantasy. In Dixon's constructions of wood, sheet metal, and aniline dyes, incongruity takes the place of the conventional, and the traditional elements of each structure are displaced or altered. ArchiSculpture addresses the meanings we attach to the places we call home, as well as the representational ambiguity of internal and external spaces of consciousness.
Randy Dixon's upcoming exhibitions include a show at the Oakland Museum of California at City Center in fall 2005, and Monterey Peninsula College in 2006. Dixon obtained his MFA in Painting from the California College of Arts and Crafts, and his Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana.
